Rehearsal Dinner Bouquet.

Rehearsal Dinner Bouquets are sometimes such a pain in the arse because they're SO HARD to make cute.  Anyway, you have to make the bouquet from the wadded up scrap ribbon torn off of gifts at the wedding shower.  It can be tough, but I came up with a cute way to make it pretty.  Oh yeah, you haven't heard from ME lately.  sick kids, sick kids. sick. kids.  I hope to be back long enough to catch up with all of Gertrude's perfectly done posts.  I'm so super lazy and always a little ball of chaos compared to her.  Anyway, here is the impatient quickly thrown together blog collage.

Fingerprint Fun!

This is hands down fingers down one of my boys favorite projects/gifts to make. ;) My favorite gift because it's personalized and SUPER inexpensive to create. Perfect for Mother's Day, Birthdays, Teacher's gift, Valentine's Day or just a fun surprise!

We just recently made a birdhouse birthday gift.

What you need:
ink pad
permanent (fine tip) marker
spray sealer (especially if it's going outdoors)
something to fingerprint on :)

Busy fingers having fun creating sometimes forget that they need to wipe off or wash fingers when changing colors. Keep wet wipes handy, this will save your ink pad!

Changing from green to orange.....poor ink pad. :(

FROG- two thumb prints sideways
BEE- one index fingerprint
BUG- two tips of index or middle fingerprints
FLOWER- six index fingerprints and one tip of index or middle finger

LADYBUG- one index fingerprint

SPIDER- one index fingerprint sideways

And just like this blog post about thank you cards, add a personalized card to the gift!

I usually buy whatever sealer is on sale but I like how quick this one dried.

Other projects we've made....

This was a teacher gift. Fingerprints from each student. She LOVED it!

Spray painted the pot blue, added clouds and grass and then had the kids pick what they wanted to add. I wish I had more time in the class to add names .

Mother's day gift

We also made a fish theme flowerpot that I can't find a picture. :( Use index fingerprints sideways and add the triangle fishtail, eye and smile. SUPER cute!!

Now go be creative!!

Thank You's

We FINALLY finished thank you cards yesterday! My boys have learned to love writing their cards and I enjoy the extra little details and drawings they add. You see, IF they don't want to write cards then they don't get to keep the gift. Said in a nice way. :) Over the years this has turned into a fun activity with music and treats.

Our cards are super inexpensive and usually pictures with text to add that personal touch. Text can be done in any paint/photo program or in a word document with a text box.

This year I took the picture in front of the tree the day before we took it down. Whew! I forgot to take one I could use Christmas morning that wasn't a blur of wrapping paper being tossed. So after school with both boys wearing crazy colors, we took photos. I decided on a little depth (blur) and selective color to disguise the marker hands/ lunch spills/ messy hair and all over grubby-ness of a fun filled day at school.

I sent pictures to the hour photo department (or print at home), got out the card stock, double sided tape and paper trimmer. I saw the local craft store had some random packs of cards on sale for .20 cents so I picked up a few just for the smaller envelopes. (I'll recycle the cards in some future craft)

Now for the boys to get to work :)
